Meet Ju-Young Williamson
Our founder
Ju-Young was born in Seoul, South Korea and immigrated to New York City with her mom when she was only 11 months old. She only spent a few of her younger years there but New York and its vibrant energy and big city lights left a big imprint on her heart and soul. It is the inspiration behind the studios vibe.
She grew up with a love for all types of music, being influenced by the sounds of her dads Motown vinyl records. You will see these displayed on the studio wall, a wall dedicated to her late father, Kenneth Main.
As an adult, she found her way into fitness. She has completed four marathons and is a former Pro Fitness and Body Building competitor. When she later found her way into her first rhythm based indoor cycling studio, she was hooked! It was a place where two of her biggest passions were combined in the same room, music and fitness. Over the past 7 years her love for coaching indoor cycling has only grown stronger. It was through that love that Beat Bar was created.
“My absolute love for teaching drove me to create a space where our community could move to music in a way that makes people feel empowered and strong. A place where everyone feels encouraged, seen and supported. Lifting others up is a part of my being that makes me feel complete. I’m grateful for this beautiful community and the opportunity to be a part of their fitness journey.”
